Cusco zero A coilovers, anyone used them?

Post by C35Rob »

As per the title really.. I'm after some genuine first hand opinions of these, I'm buying new coilovers for my car in the next couple of days and these are on my radar as they're good value from RHD japan. My other option is HSD which I've had on a couple of cars and been really pleased with.

P.s I don't care about comfort. That's what daily drivers are for.

I don't know about the MR2 but on the Supra the Cusco coil overs are very stiffly sprung and the pillowball top mounts had a reputation of wearing prematurely and knocking. This is going back a few years though now.

Before buying I'd check their warranty and how easily replacement/rebuild parts are to source.

ive got cusco and there hard as nails . you wont be able to drink a cup of coffee while you're driving but if you want to drive there real good . there's none off that snap oversteer on my car .just point it. when I turn into my work I have to drive over a bit of a sloped kerb and the car goes on three wheels cause its that stiff. they have replaceable inserts, mine are kyb . ive also got a two on teins that failed a mot on leaking shocks which meant a new set of teins or a rebuild which is about the same cost.

for what it's worth, I bought HSD monopros, and they must have revised them because they now come with camber adjustable top mounts not the fixed eccentric top mounts that they show in all of their pictures :thumleft:

This is one of the reasons I bought H&R coilovers, the dampers are billstein units which are rebuildable by a few different places in the uk.

I had a set of Apexi N1's that nobody wanted to touch and same goes for a set of jdm Ohlins. Also there have been plenty of stories of people trying to get Tein to rebuild dampers only to quote them the price of a new coilover for a rebuild.

Yeah I wouldn't touch Teins, seems like every set you see are leaking, knocking and/or rotten with all the paint flaked off..

This'll be my 3rd set of HSD's now, DW customer support is ace and they're happy to sell you individual parts (top mounts, dampers etc) should you need them :thumleft:
