Car starts but then dies!!

Hey guys,

I have made a fair few threads regarding idle problems... i recently had a high idle after removing the intake with the 4 butterfly valves and had air leak at the throttle body as the gasket was no more.

I recently put instant gasket to seal these air leaks and i fitted a second had iscv and icv i used silicon to seal the icv as the gasket would not go back in...

My problem now is that when i start the car it goes to 1000rpm(very lumpy idle , almost sounds like it is missing but goes away when revs applied) and then drops untill dead but i can start the car keep some revs on and after 10 seconds release the pedal and it will idle at 1100 untill it then begins to go to about 1800rpm and once warm will SLOWELY drop to 1200rpm.

Im slowely giving up as it seems im chasing something that cant be chased.

please if anyone has any ideas much would be appreciated.

Have you tried changing the ECU coolant temperature sensor? These can cause idling issues when they go.

i havent no but if that was faulty surley my temp gauge would not warm up? because it does its just so strange iv had nothing but truble with the idling and now it just wont stop dieing unless its warmed up...

umm ill have to look into getting one then how much are they do you know? would it be okay if it was a second hand one? spoke to toyota and ima get a new throttle body gasket and a gasket for the 4 butterfly valve part of the intake thing...dunno what that part of the intake is....lol

Green ECU temp sensors are £15? ish from TCB parts, MR2Ben, etc.

You'll need a deep 19mm socket to get at it too.

well after changing my idle control valve back to my old one its sorted it but now goes to 2300 revs and hunts around there...i did mess with the plate with two small screws at the bottom of the icv anyone know how its supposed to sit as i know thats the problem.
