Clifford alarm issues.

Post by Ginjaninja92 »

Hi all,

I know the Clifford is a relatively common aftermarket alarm so hopefully someone has some knowledge. My car has the "G5 Concept 650" model fitted, and over the last few days has started playing up.

When I press the lock button on my remote it gives me 3 beeps and doesn't lock, and has also started randomly going off even when the cars unlocked!

I have no experience in these things and it's proving quite difficult to pick up any info online.

So, is it gonne be a "not worth trying" scenario, where I have to take it to an auto-electrician?
Or could it just be a short somewhere I could try find?
Is it possible to disable in the meantime to stop it randomly going off?

Sounds like one of the door or boot or bonnet switches is playing up. It thinks a door is open so won't set the alarm. But if it auto sets it thinks a door is open and goes off.

Google for the install manual and there is a way to put it into test mode.

The other option is get your multimeter out and test each switch till you find the problem one.

Thanks for the reply man that's really helpful! I'll set about it tomorrow as long as its dry.

Do you know if you can effectively just turn the whole system off?

Cheers

Yes but your need to know the secret valet code.

It's a series of turning the ignition on and off and pressing the valet button if there is one.

I checked the previous trigger points using the diagnostics section of the manual. It seems it was a number of things (doors, boot, power interruption).

So I've armed it and am waiting for it to go off, then I can check the most recent trigger and go from there. The problem is I armed it 3 hours ago and it hasn't gone off! I guess it may have sorted itself but time will tell.

Thanks for the advice again!
