[Mk2 NA] Stereo Problems

Post by orangewinger »

Hi, just got my MR2 (1995 MK2 Rev3) with the stock stereo and cd player but there is a problem with it, and I was wondering if anyone has any idea what it might be:

1) Intermitently there is a high pitched whine coming from the left side speakers. Turning off and on the stereo (sometime several times) seems to solved this problem, and then 5 minutes later it's started again. This is regardless of radio, cd or tape (and volume level doesn't affect it).

2) The radio never seems to be able to lock into a station when scanning, if I do it manually it's ok but doesn't seem to get a great reception.

Thanks.

No, I don't think it's that as sometimes it never happens when driving at all and other times its on all the time. I think there may be some loose connections or something, I might try and take it out and look at the connections.

I've now worked out its only in the front two speakers and only when the engine is running. It seems to be constant now, so it may be easier to work out what's causing it.

I'm guessing it could be a loose wire in the door or something?

Any more ideas?
