I run NGK BCR8ES gapped at .8mm, it's worth noting if you're buying iridium tipped plugs (I refuse to use them, btw) that they should never be cleaned or gapped at home.

I had no idea

I run 0.7mm so didn't re-gap them anyway, but I was remiss enough to not even think about that #-o

that's the reason I won't use them, apart from them being ridiculously priced is that if the tip drops off then it'll end up being dragged up and down the cylinder wall, or embedded in the head/piston.

if you wanted to be pedantic, they *can* be gapped, but it's easy to damage them, they definitely shouldn't be cleaned.

copper is a better conductor than iridium or platinum, the only advantage of the fancy plugs is their service interval.. copper plugs are a couple of quid each, no harm in replacing them once a year

Ok well I'm a dingus. I literally just opened the boxes, checked the gaps, and screwed them in, and nothing went wrong, so I'm guessing if I'd damaged them it would have been fairly obvious. I'll get copper next time :thumleft:

I wouldnt call them fancy plugs tbh just more modern tech, you do know the oem plugs for a rev3 turbo are platinums.

Ignition seems to be a contentious issue thanks to companies that claim you can get more horsepower by having brand XYZ plug, lead, coil etc.

You only have to ignite the mixture reliably. It either ignites, or it doesn't.

You can't be a little bit pregnant.

I did not know that .. just dont like the idea of part of my plug falling off in to the cylinder  .

I remember an article in max-power (i used to read it in the mid 90's) and they did back2back dyno tests for 5 different plugs .. super cheap to mega expensive.. result was negligible .. like 1 to 2 hp ... just a thought :eye:

Where are people getting their copper bkr7e plugs now?

Camskill don't do parts anymore and gts chris website is closed, can't find any online apart from platinum and iridium and the eBay copper ones all seem to be generic as opposed to any mr2 specific ](*,)
