Avcr splicing wires into ECU

Hi guys

I'm in the process of installing my AVCR. Now I want it to be as clean as possible. I've spent quite some time cleaning the up loom from the previous owner.

Now when It comes to splicing the wires into the ECU. I really don't want to use those horrible blue plastic things in order to do this. They aren't good and don't give the best connectivity.

What I would normally do is slice the wire and then solder the 3 wires back together.

I was just wondering if anyone had a more elegant way of doing this.

Yeah how do you do this neatly?

I have to re wire my Power meter in but how do you do it neatly so it all doesnt just look a mess with an extra wire just lobbed in and taped up?

If a connection needs to be bluet proof strip a small section of the wire and solder the splice to it ..

If not being 100% is ok use scotch locks are fine if used properly , snap the scotch lock in place then open it to make sure it spliced though the wire then resnap it shut .


I use both never had a failure .


Never use bullet connectors , thats my top tip , things are a hazard .

Yeah. I hate scotch blocks.

i'll strip solder and then heatshrink. Was what I was thinking to begin with just wanted to check.

A really neat and tidy way to do it would be to use one of these:

Both look proper neat and won't risk continuity as both include strain relief heat shrink, they make scotch locks look as bad as they really are, but are OTT for most people's use

I use the method 2mad posted above, no need to chop the wire if you dont have too, just use a good insulating tape over the joint, I'm a fan of self amalgamating tape for wrapping wires

Although there is nothing wrong with a properly crimped joint, the problem is most people use the wrong (too big) crimps and crush them with pliers instead of a proper ratchet crimping tool.

I used positaps to connect into the ecu wires. Part ex-110m
Bought from eBay, easy and clean connection without damaging the wire. They are used on bikes a lot so designed to be strong.
