new member, couple of question.

Post by mark_buk2003 »

Hi there I have just purchased a rev 3 mr2, as a cheap daily and maybe a couple of track days. The car drives fantastic. And is in very good condition there is only a couple of small niggles I would like to ask advice on.

1. the car ticks over at about 2000rpm when engine is first started when cold. Looked online somepeople say this is normal,?? Is that correct..

2.also it has had a patch welded to inside rear wheel arch.. sills are solid, have checked down inside sills. And there perfect... is the inside rear arch common to go on these? Should I be concerned? ? Is it an expensive fix.

Thanks mark

The inside rear arch has gone on my project car too, which is a 1990 Jap NA with 100,000 on the shell (imported in 1998) - I'd guess it's pretty common if they've been here for a while! My Rev 3 turbo is rust-free, but was only imported in 2008.

Yes mine also ticks over at 2000rpm and steadily drops over a few minutes, or if you give the throttle a little blip \:D/

Mine sits at 1500 - 1700rpm on a normal day when first started, but if it's really cold outside then it can be as high as 2000rpm.
