NRG, Lifeline, SPA are all race quality, although a bit pointless unless you're in a car like a single seater with highly restricted access.

Just change the wheel at the boss screws when you've bought your new wheel. :?

Remember there are two types of adaptor - one that needs one half of the adaptor welding to your steering column, requiring removal of the whole steering column, and the type that bolts to your boss. The latter type will move the steering wheel at least 40-50mm towards the driver and away from the stalks.

Yes just get a regular boss and then undo the screws.

I'll have a boss for sale once i've recieved my new one. :thumleft:

My turbo came with a "quick release boss", well it would have been if the owner hadn't lost the key for it ](*,)

Now short of drilling the circular keyed lock out I seem to be stuck with it.

I'm with Peter you only really need one if its a racing car with limited access.

I kinda like the idea of being able to remove the steering wheel as an additional security feature, but this assumes you take the steering wheel with you instead of leaving it in the car!

It was a thought that went through my mind, mainly with the idea of taking the steering wheel off on an evening when the car is parked overnight on the road.

Its was a just a idea so i could quickly change my steering wheel from deep dish, suade, smooth leather or flat wheel... and yes security over nite but if you guys think its not worth it and there too much trouble just for the the novelty i might just leave it

Ive had a snap off wheel in a previous car, it was cool at the time but I probably wouldn't bother again. Having the wheel far away from the stalks gets annoying, the temptation to play with it and take it off/put it on when stationary in traffic is high, which is ok till you're fumbling trying to put the steering wheel back on when the lights go green

you never take the wheel with you, it always ends up behind/under the seat or in the boot, theives know this, and even if it wasn't they'd probably come back armed with a boss and wheel of their own, they're pretty much all interchangeable.

I've got a nardi deep corn in my car now, and thats as close as I'd want it to me, the snap off suited the mx5 (better driving position anyway) but I cant see it working in an mr2, unless it was one of the nrg low profile ones and a really flat wheel.

anythings possible. ive got a snap off steering wheel and its spot on . I had to buy a basic Toyota steel boss and chop it down , cut holes for the indicators and weld it back up shorter. the horn works and the indicators cancel and the steering wheel sits in the same position. im only posting cause I was so proud of my work. its nice to have a race wheel in my front room.

I have the snap off boss in mine (has been in all my cars since the 90's). I found by using a toyota momo option boss it doesn't move the wheel to far back (my boss came off a gt4)

I chose it for security

Excuse the work in progress pictures
Edit these pictures hopefully show the distance to stalks comparison

Here is one the same on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rapid-Hp-Supe ... 43d8740b5e
