I know it can be very frustrating trying to find a good affordable tubby, and was in much the same position as you are now, just over 12 months ago.

When you can't find what you're looking for it's all too easy to talk yourself into buying something because it's available.

But it's well worth holding out for the right car in the right condition.

In my case I started out looking for a rev3 as these are generally more highly regarded due to the better turbo, head gasket, etc, etc.

But quickly found the good ones were generally more than I could afford.

So I went for a rev2 in really nice condition for the year, no clunking suspension, no gear crunching and a good clean body.

It took me a few months to find and it's not the fastest or most powerful tubby on the block, but hell its fun to drive, and certainly put a smile on my face every time I jumped in it

- well until a kind lady ran into the back of me, but that's another story.

Just don't rush things.

The right car will show up, and you'll hopefully know it right when you see it in the flesh and talk to the owner.
