Heatproof covering for IC intake pipes.

Post by super »

Hi,

Is anyone covering their intake pipe work with heat protective sleeves? If so, what are you using please?

Thanks,

John

Surely you wouldn't want to cover them as that would keep the heat in. You're much better improving heat sheilding on the engine itself.

this.

you don't want heat wrap, paint, lagging, reflective tape or whatever on your charge pipes. alloy is an excellent conductor of heat the large amount of air passing over them will aid cooling. lagging them and keeping the heat in just helps them get heat soaked.

invest in a turbo blanket, some better/extra heat shielding of the exhaust manifold/downpipe, maybe think of getting them ceramic coated too.
