BOV Help - any suggestion welcome

Post by Bumble-bee »

Hi guys,

im a little puzzled, i have my bov which is the greddy fv, it comes with its own flange as follows in the picture

Image

and i want it to be attached to my car where the original recirculating valve is situated like this:

Image

Image

could i use something like this to attach it to my car? this is for a Subaru but it looks like it will fit, or does anyone else have any other suggestions without wielding or changing the hot pipe

Image

Thanks for looking guys :)

By looking at the picture it looks like the original connector? I'm just thinking I need something to screw on to the car and also screw the dump valve on to?

Btw mate I love your car!! Same colour as mine! I want to get it resprayed it's a bit faded and would like a little kit to go on to make it stand out more :)

Cheers man, always good to hear compliments about it :thumleft:

you would need a specific kit by the sounds of it, what you'r better doing is getting a universal flange on the BOV and on the hotpipe, Specific fitting kits for each BOV are extremely hard to find :( I have a greddy type S and did exactly what I've just said, I'll get a pic for you tonight when i get home :thumleft:

You've got that exact one?!?! You're getting me excited now because I've had this valve for months and I keep looking at different ways to get it fitted and I can't find anything and this is now the closest I've come!!!

I have the pipe already and the little t pieces, so if I just get that adaptor in the picture this will work perfectly? Just unscrew the original and screw this on yeah? :)

Not the same valve but the flange on mine is identical to yours yeah, i have the universal adapter in the link, you join the 2 with a piece of pipe, unfortunately i started stripping my engine last night and forgot to get pics for you, in fact, scratch that, i can take a pic f the hotpipe tomorrow. The long and short of it is, buy the adapter in the link i posted :)

I haven't bought anything yet man, I've literally just got the bov and the flange it came with in the box, but the adaptor I posted a picture of would that not just attach to the hot pipe? And then to the bov? It's just that kit costs more than what I got the bov for! :') I want to get it cheap and just get it on my car, if you've got anything I could use? :P

No the one you posted won't work as that's for a different car, the one i posted is specific to the mr2. Your bov has a universal flange, if you can find a greddy flange that bolts to the mr2 then yeah you can do it that way too but the bother i had even finding greddy flanges it was easier just to do it the way i did. The only parts available i have are my turbo, downpipe and a gt4 chargecooler kit, the greddy bov will be going back on when i rebuild it :)

I'm sorry man I'm being dumb!! 😔 I can't get my head around this I just don't want to spend a lot of money getting the bov that cost me £40 on, (won an auction lol) so I need to get a universal flange on the bov and a univeral adaptor for the hot pipe? Just sounds like a lot of trouble :') can't I just get a bit of metal and cut a shape and drill a few wholes? 😂

my bov with the same flange as yours with a bit of pipe jubillee'd on to it :)

Image

my hotpipe with the (homemade) universal adapter on it, pipe is a bit short but it works, I had the one in the link on my rev2 and it's a bit longer.

now the 2 together

Tada!!!! :thumleft: :thumleft:

just to add, you can't just use a flat piece of metal, the adapter has the same fitting as the stock mr2 valve, you need to take your rubber O-ring off the stock valve and put it on the adapter. get the adapter,it's by far the easiest solution :thumleft:

So are you sure that you can't take something similar to the picture I sent you and screw the bov in on one part and in the other whole just bolt it to the hot pipe? Because that seems so much easier to me :') sorry I seem hell bent on it but that's the idea I have in my head and it seems easier and will cost less :') im a pain are i :/

i am 100% because the one in your picture is for a Nissan.

this is the stock bov. it has one hole.

that wee metal adapter on the left (you can't see the other side in this pic) is identical to the stock mr2 bov. that's why it fits and the Nissan one won't.

yes there is an adapter that will fit. the one I linked you to in my very first reply

:thumleft:

you're trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, this is the easiest way to do it without having it (alloy) welded on. you could give your stock valve to a fabricator (or make one if you have the skills) and get him to make you an adapter.

How did you make your homemade one? Was it easy? I'm just thinking of the cheapest option :(

I cut the adapter of a broken blitz supersound, which I found out later to not be broken :( the problem is getting it to seal, honestly man, your only real option is to spend the £62 I'm afraid, or wait on a used one coming up, I bought my last one off here for about £20.
