Discussion and technical advice the SW20 MR2. 3S-GTE, 3S-GE, 3S-FE etc
Anything and everything to do with maintenance, modifications and electrical is in here for the Mk2.
Iv recently resealed both quarter light windows as i heard these can leak, after a night of rain about a week ago there was water on the passenger floor again, after checking around the quarter window everything was dry...but did notice some water coming from a seam just down from the rear window close to the quarter window..i checked the drivers side and was coming in the same place, seems to be getting past the seam..is there a cavity behind this seam which goes to the back of the engine bay below the rear window? i should also mention that the car stands on my driveway which is on a downslope, iv been told i need to find the entry point of the water and seal that first..or i could just get as much of the old seam sealant out and redo it..anyone had this problem before?

My experience is that you've not sealed the windows properly. Sit in the door on the sill and use a shower head hose at the gutter point outside and check carefully.
The water is definitely coming from the seam and not the quarter Windows as iv successfully resales them with no water ingress.... it's building up in the cavity behind this seam.pic1...how could water get into this cavity? I think the back of the engine bay under the rear window is the bottom skin of the cavity...I just don't know how it gets in
