Please help me!

Post by Bumble-bee »

Hi guys.... My Rev 2 3sgte turbo import is being a typical women... And still not putting out 😂 she won't start guys I'll gove you a list of what's been done and any help will be great ful as to what it could be :)

She cranks and cranks until she almost starts then then she Fires up but runs completely fine, no cutting out no misfire, boast 100% fine no noises nothing!

Had new gt leads dizzy cap rotor arm and a full service carried out,

Spark tested and its a really strong spark, so can't be coil

When she finally starts white smoke floods out the back so there is fuel in the engine once it starts! She has to rev a little to get rid of it but then idles fine afterwards

Had the gearbox and clutch changed so I thought maybe that the earthing wasn't right but my mechanic has checked all of these again and they are all on tight,

Had a new battery fitted to it and still having the problem just cranks and cranks and finally she starts again and I have to go on a bit of a d tour to charge the battery!

Any help to get her to fire up first time everytime!!! But now and again she fired up straight away and I want this problem to stop!

Please help guys im trying everything! This problem only started a few weeks ago and I had the car in September and it's been fine up until recently!

If your sure of the spark and no ones done anything that would affect either the static or dynamic timing then id be looking to do a compression test and check the fuel pressure

no, the light won't come on man, just turn on the igntion and bridge the terminals, get somebody to see what the EML does, if it flashes constant then there's no codes.

So the engine doesn't have to be on just 2 clicks or shall I get her started?

as above, 2 clicks and the EML will light up, It will flash as soon as you bridge the terminals so easiest with 2 people :thumleft:

no that doesn't work, it's really frustrating that it doesn't!!

what you could do is put a switch between 2 wires then bridge them. then you can just flick the switch.

Turn ignition on but dont start engine as sheppy says, then put a clip or wire between the 2 terminals then go back to dash and read the codes, it will continuously repeat codes til terminals are unbridged or ignition switched off anyway

Yup i can bridge and then turn the key.

I would check the ECU see for leaky caps. I had this problem with mine. Replaced the ECU in the end and all was perfect. :thumleft:

Bridges and then turned the key worked perfectly fine and just a constant flash reading no codes :( could this still be an ecu problem and how much are they to get one?

To the other guy who asked its is a Rev 2 turbo :(

Yes it could be an ECU problem. The big issue with bulging capacitors is that they slowly get worse so one day you'll wake up and the car won't start first time or maybe you'll get pops and bangs when you shouldn't eventually the car just won't start at all when they've leaked all over the board.

Well first things first.. open it up check the board you're looking at the capacitors see if any are bulged or even leaking. If you're good with electronics you can replace capacitors your self.

I got mine from someone on here who fixes them and sells them on (can't remember who). If it is indeed the ECU stick a wanted add up and then check the breaker section PM some of the guys on there.

I paid £70 and my old ECU as part ex. So expect to pay £100+ for one.

The final time before mine wouldn't start I was driving down the road and it was coughing and spluttering shooting 3ft flames out the exhaust with lots of black smoke.

I thought that was game over.

Once I figured it out it was actually one of the more simpler issues i've had.
