Stereo quiet?????
Hi my stereo has gone quiet i put the volume to max but it is very quiet still? Any ideas?????? Plz very frustrating!

Is it like this when playing a CD, listening to the radio, or both? My stereo goes near silent on CDs sometimes, but a quick press of the 'AF' button puts the volume back to how it should...

yeah it is quiet all the time, have tried all the buttons on the stereo but nothing changing it? would it be something to do with the active setup side of things?

I'm wondering if one of the connectors at the rear of the stereo have worked their way loose?

Most aftermarket stereos have a line that comes from the back for muting the sound, think it will be labelled as "att", this as well as the attention button you get on the front to mute the sound down. On sonys i think you just have to earth it for it to take effect (handsfree car kits make use of it i guess!), maybe this has become earthed somehow? would look to see in you stereo manual if you have this wire! If not take it out then rewire it one step at a time to single out the problem!

Cheers for the replies! Today I have had the problem solved! What was it you may ask....... the amp for my active setup has died! Should have another one by tomorrow!
