Running issues on turbo

Post by mr2turbo99 »

Hi all,

I've had a couple of running issues just recently and i'm struggling to pinpoint the cause.

Car starts just fine but for the first 10 minutes, it has 'no go'. It's revving fine but feels like there is a lack of power and was even requiring a little boost to get her moving up a slight gradient in 2nd.

When warm, foot to the floor the car makes 14psi which is where i have set the EBC but it feels under powered, almost like the clutch is slipping (clutch only has a few K on it so it can't be that). The car makes good stable boost but doesn't want to accelerate any faster.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Any fault codes?

Good shout on the boost leak. Will check pipes.

Timing has been checked within the last 12 months and was spot on, however, could it move over time?

Ok bit of an update. Checked the error codes whilst running and it turns out I have a code 51, switch signal.

The check engine light shows normal but the second I touch the accelerator, 51 pops up. It then switches back to normal after lifting off the accelerator.

Anyone know what this means?

Timings spot on btw and no boost leaks.

That's what im thinking Jim. Is the tps a resistance measurement? What typically goes wrong with this sensor?

Yes it is and it has got a switch for low speed to tell the ECU when to go into closed loop control

Well all my resistances check out just fine on the tps according to the bgb which is unfortunate as I was hoping it was that!

Had a new issue last night, however im convinced its related. Instead of feeling slow to pull in 5th gear, it made boost then started juddering. It sort of felt like hitting the rev limiter but clearly no where near.
