What's it worth? MR2 Rev5 GTS 64k miles

Post by SteveH »

I've a JDM 1998 Rev 5 GTS with a few mods done in Japan (Apexi Power FC + boost unit, Kakimoto exhaust, drilled and grooved discs, sports cat, HKS intercooler, genuine Border bonnet, genuine (99% sure) SARD front bumper, Lenso D1R wheels all round and it only has 103,000 KMs (64k miles) on it.

What kind of money do people think it would be worth? I'm living in Ireland, but if the price was right, I wouldn't mind getting the boat over [Wink]

When was it imported? that'd be a big factor for me, if it's a fresh import then it'd be worth significantly more to me than something that's been driven on salted winter roads over here cause it destroys them - underseal or not!

It's worth whatever someone will pay for it though, advertise it for what you think it's worth and if it sells it sells.

I was told by www.carimportsdirect.co.uk who were/are in Bristol that they bought there stock from South island Japan as North island used salt on there roads, but if the weather is that bad perhaps there is no alternative.......world cars (underbody sealed) were produced mid? 90's for all markets.

Car was imported about 8 years ago but was dry-stored for 6.5 of those (garage went bankrupt). Then the previous owner bought it, drove 400 miles, then I got my hands on it. In Ireland, we don't use salt thankfully, so the underside is exceptionally rust free. I've had several mechanics mention this to me.

what's it worth threads are always a can of worms.. and are banned on a few forums I've used before because they turn into debates and/or a for sale thread. you can't really speculate as to what a car is worth unless you have actually seen it yourself.. lots (and this is a sweeping generalisation) of people think their car is in better condition/more valuable than it is, and get offended when told differently.

do some research, check out ebay/classifieds etc and see what similar cars are changing hands for.

FYI I paid £5k for my car, which is a 57k rev3 gts with similar spec as a fresh import in december.

eBay no reserve auction will tell you how much its worth.

+1 :thumleft:

Its worth as much as someone is prepared to pay for it.
