Discussion and technical advice the SW20 MR2. 3S-GTE, 3S-GE, 3S-FE etc
Anything and everything to do with maintenance, modifications and electrical is in here for the Mk2.
So I was taking out the boxes behind the drivers seat and found a hole in my floor.
Not really sure what the best way to fix it will be but I guess it's cut and weld. Since I can't weld I fear this might get expensive.
Lol, is that it? i was expecting to see half the floor missing, just clean it up and rust proof it then paint, not structural there anyway.
have you checked inside the ends of the boot? usually rusts well in there
Yeah maybe I panicked a little bit but it does look quite a bit worse in person. Will look at cleaning it up etc. Not looked in the boot quite scared to now.
Thanks for the advise from everyone

Get underneath the car with a wire brush/ angle grinder and clean it all up, see how bad the damage really is, I would inspect the rest of the under side, and rear sills at the same time- the earlier you spot this sort of damage the more likely you can get away with a small amount of preventative maintenance instead of having to replace whole sills and arches, etc.
Once you can see the damage- if it's just a small hole in the floor pan, then making a steel patch and seam welding it in is not a big job, I'd expect a local welder to knock a simple patch up and weld it in very quickly for minimal cost. Prime, paint and underseal and the jobs a good 'un

There a small hole behind each seat they have rubber bungs in originally, it looks like one of them to me. My car is completely stripped out other than the seats & I pushed the bungs out so they act like drainage holes for any water that was sloshing about on the floor
