So, have you got the dates firmly fixed in your diary and bought your tickets? The Japanese Performance Car Show at Sandown Park (24th and 25th September) is coming together and well on course to be an event you cannot afford to miss.

Besides filling the exhibition hall with a great selection of performance cars and all the top tuners and traders, we will also have our unique Performance Clinics running over the show weekend. Free to attend on a first-come-first-served basis, these will cover subjects as varied as engine management, fitting nitrous, turbocharger maintenance, tyre selection and the best way to build a drift car. Bodywork care will also be covered, with one of the show's major supporters, Meguiar's, demonstrating its products, offering advice and providing some superb car-care kits to go to the lucky ten Best Of Show cars.

There will also be some surprise special exhibits. Nissan agreed to deliver its outrageous Micra with its tuned 350Z engine. This is likely to be the first chance many enthusiasts will have to see this 310bhp beast. The Japanese Performance magazine stand will have Richard Nicholls' Project Drift 200SX - and Features Editor Phil Royle will also be there with his Project RA.

Always a concern for anyone modifying their cars, insurance issues will also be covered. Osborne & Sons are putting their support behind the show and offering special quotes on the day. www.osborneandsons.co.uk

Outside the hall we are also hoping to have a demonstration of radio-control cars that have been built to drift! Thor Racing will be there with its DYNAPACK portable chassis dynamometer and will be offering two-wheel-drive power runs at a special show rate of only £50. Thor Racing is also holding a competition with Millers Oils to find the most powerful 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre vehicle over the weekend. www.thor-racing.co.uk

The discount voucher printed in the September issue of Japanese Performance magazine can be redeemed at the Miller Oils stand at the show. You can talk to the experts to find out what high-performance lubricants your car needs - and then save money buying them! www.millersoils.co.uk

And, if you are a club and haven't already organised a plot, get in touch now! Space at Sandown Park is limited, so we are looking to have the best cars we can inside the exhibition halls. However, you can also book the special club parking areas within the grounds. If you need to know more about this or to hear about the special admission packages available, contact CHP Exhibitions Manager, Phil Reynolds, on 07711 182888 or e-mail [email protected]

If you haven't got them already, advance tickets are available on-line or call us on 01737 814311. An adult day ticket is £10 (£8 in advance), adult weekend ticket is £15 (£13 in advance). There is limited camping space at £20 a plot.

SANDOWN PARK - HOW TO GET THERE

Sandown Park lies 15 miles south-west of London just off the A307 in the town of Esher in Surrey. The best route from London is to take the A3 and follow the signs to Sandown Park. Alternatively from the M25 turn off at Junction 10 and follow the A3 back towards London for 2 miles to the junction with the A307, where the venue is well sign-posted. For full directions on how to find Sandown Park go to http://www.sandown.co.uk/racecourse/directions.html
