[Mk2] [NA] Opinions please on Exhausts? Mongoose or Japspeed??

As title says really I've got a Mongoose on my Rev 2 G Limited at the moment and it's fairly quiet. I don't know if it's decatted (I was told it was) but it's not very loud.

Now I've seen / heard the Japspeed ones and think they sound lovely but does anyone know too much about the quality of them. The Mongoose on the car certainly doesn't seem too old and is in good nick so I'm only thinking of changing for a tad more volume.

So could I have your opinions please whether to stick with the Mongoose or to swap to the Japspeed?

Also has anyone tried the Japspeed Mani's as well. I know they're 4-1 so you lose mid range but I'm curious as to if they're any good?

Depends on how much you value your hearing!!

In all honesty I love the sound of a loud tuned exhaust system but the Japspeed is just noisy on an NA.

I swapped from a Japspeed to a Decatted Mongoose and loved the sound difference. The Mongoose was throaty without being stupidly loud.

Regarding build quality and the manifold I cant comment.

I'd start by determining if the car does or doesn't have a cat fitted. Removing the cat has a significant effect on the sound level.

Personally I would keep the Mongoose exhaust fitted either way. If the car does have a cat fitted then fitting a decat pipe would make it a lot louder.

Ah ok cheers. Maybe it's just me as apparently the car is loud from outside but inside the cabin it's fairly subdued and not what I was expecting at all I guess is the best way to put it

I'll find out if it has a cat fitted too and if it does that'll be going

If you do want a japspeed i have one sat in my garage could do with a new flexi but £70 + postage its yours. Took it off my tubby because it was too loud now have a nur spec . I do have 2 bungs to quieten down the japspeed though.

Thanks again. I've been told the car is loud from outside but not inside which was why I wanted a tad more.

After fitting the HKS induction kit to with CAI it seems to have woken the car up again let alone the neighbours haha

Hi i have rev3 jap import n/a. I want to replace exhaust full from manifold and i found japspeed back box + unknown ex manifold from rev 1 or 2 import.
Just want to know is the same fittment? Can i fit straight away?

The Rev1/2 and Rev3 3S-GE manifolds are definitely different, see this thread

I have a Japspeed I think -it's loud inside and out. Too loud, at some point I'll be getting it swapped out although I have to keep the pops and bangs on a new custom one

It'll run fine but it won't be road legal as it removes the cat completely. There's nothing to stop you getting one and swapping for the standard one for MOT though

Warning, It's also VERY loud
