Hi Guys, I couldn't see any thread regarding this but i'm sure that someone will prove me wrong. I have been looking for a new exhaust system for my MR2 rev3 nearly all available manifolds seem to be for Rev1 and Rev 2 MR2's is there a difference between Rev 1 and 2 engines as opposed to Rev 3's? Is there any difference in the way the entire system mounts? Sorry if this is a stupid question. Also any recommended places to get one from?
The standard 3S-GE exhaust system is made up of various sections.
The manifold
This connects to the front pipe, then the catalytic convertor and then the rear back box.
Different aftermarket companies replace these various sections in different ways eg. Fujitsubo follow the standard exhaust configuration. 630-23521 Fujitsubo Super Ex- this replaces the standard manifold front pipe and bolts to the cat. 760-23521 Fujitsubo Legalis R Back Box- this is designed to replace the standard back box and bolt up to the cat.

This link shows a number of other 3S-GE exhaust system designs which replace the various standard parts of the stock exhaust system, including decat pipes which are basically a straight through pipe that replaces the stock cat. http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/mr2-exhaust-non-turbo
The various Ebay systems tend to be the cheapest option but are usually very loud and fitment/construction can be a bit hit and miss.
I'd keep an eye on the 'For Sale' and 'MR2's Being Broken' sections to see if a good quality branded exhaust comes up.
Thankyou Nic, this is brilliant. I was just wondering does this mean that the rev 1 and 2 manifold will indeed fit the rev 3s? They are the same engine, no?
No they are not. Rev1/2 uses the Gen2 3SGE, Rev3+ uses Gen3 3SGE.
I'm not actually sure if you can swop manifolds over generation to generation, but I do know rev1/2 uses 4-2 manifold with a 2-1 midpipe, some rev3's use 4-2-1 others 4-1 manifold.
