Factory 5S FE in the UK.

Post by Super_red »

Very Rare 5S FE engined MR2. USA import and they got the 2.2 N/A Coupe. Looks nice but pricey and the ad reads like the seller is a bit stupid (101k miles, serviced at 91k but thats only 1k ago!).

Its an old 5S FE block though so probably worth nothing as it is, just a rarity thing in the UK, probably the only one.

Nice find - certainly a very rare thing to find over here, especially as a full factory car. Ashame there isn't an engine pic up there.

It looks very tidy, and a nice colour. The only thing I'm not a fan of is those wing mirrors. Other than that its nice :thumleft:

My maths is bad.. but if it has done 101k and was serviced at 91K then that was 10k miles ago..

Stop me if I'm wrong.

Sounds like he's just saying cam belt & tensioner were done @ 91000, but car has done only 1000 in 4 years, ie, in 2009 it was on 100,000 miles. So belt is, at the minimum, over 4 years old plus 9000 miles....... Unless he's simply missed a "0" out and has done 10k in 4years.

I don't think it was registered in 71 but there you go. Anyhow seems to be that cars in the US with almost twice the mileage still sell for 6k USD

I was going to say shame about the rev 3 conversion but it's been done proper. Some big power MR2's been made with the 5SFE conversions so worth it for the parts alone probably.

Must be someone who knows what they're doing -nice to see it advertised as an SW21 as well. Looks well cared for -I wonder what the 2.2 is like to drive?

Nice find :thumleft: :thumleft:
