ht leads

Post by BARNEY_MK1 »

Budget ht leads are about thirty pounds from tcbparts - link below, just scroll to the bottom of their page for aw11 parts. I used these and they were fine.

Otherwise if you want fancy ones then go for magnecors, which is what i have now. £54 from http://www.larkspeed.com/index.pl?a=i&p=S40184

Or if you want to fit and forget, buy Toyota ones. £112 for the leads, plugs for a UK car are not that expensvie via the dealer.

Magnecor are an okay budget option, but Mark had some that fell apart. I would only fit OEM when it comes to HT leads.

Silly question but can I ring up my local official Toyota dealer and get OEM parts from them?

I visit my local Toyota dealer's parts department to order OEM parts Wedge

You need to show them the VIN number of your car

Have never trried to order over the phone but it may be possible :-k

Yes course you can ring up, as Peter said just make sure you've got your VIN number to hand. :+:

Whenever I went in to my dealer for the AE86 I made sure I had a pic of my VIN on my phone.

Good! Now, am I correct in thinking I can find the VIN on my V5?

Yes your VIN is on your V5

It's also on a small plate on the back of the front wall of your front boot (if that makes sense :) )

Depending how helpful the parts department are, you can just give them your registration number.

A decent parts department should be able to work out what you want without either. Most aren't prepared to put in the effort though. The VIN/Number plate would be mostly useless for our car anyway (it's a mk1a with various mk1b parts retrofitted and an SC engine)

Our guy is great, I usually get the part numbers myself from the EPC/toyodiy and hand him a list. He comes back with a list of prices (with a small owners club discount applied) then I decide which ones aren't ludicrously overpriced and tell him which ones I actually want! On the occasions that I'm less organised he's happy to look through the EPC with me to work out what I need.

Presumably those arn't OEM leads Sherwin ?

Your Toyota dealer uses the VIN number to make sure they order the correct part :-k
