[Mk2] [Turbo] MK2 SW20 GTE WILL IDLE but cuts out when given fuel

Post by whapit »

hello all.. more problems for me.. as in the title. my car starts and idles but if i gave it fuel it cuts out straight away. my engine management light is on and when i checked for the fault it is giving me 3-1. on the forum the diagnostics tells you it is air flo, and refer to page F1-92 but i cant find this. also Rev 3 has not got an air flo meter but instead a map sensor ](*,) any one had this problem are no of a solution. :? thanks Marty

i found this and ill gave it a go

Error code 31 on Rev3 is MAP sensor fault.

I had the exact same problem. I have a rev 3 turbo that ran lovely till one day i left the boot lid up while it was raining, while getting some shopping in. The next morning it would start but if i touched the throttle in the slightest it would just cut out. It had all the same symptoms as tim in you thread. Checked the fault and it was 31 map censer. Long story short i got another ecu and it fixed it. Maybe you could borrow one off a mate to check.

hay thanks for the replay.
i got her going but its a long story. after pulling my car apart for the past two nights, the dam thing has come back to life.. my trouble started when i removed the speed-o to change clocks for mot.. i tried two ecu's and one map sensor and it only came back to life when i tried a different set of clocks in her,, but the craziest thing is when i put my clocks back in, the car still run fine.. i would of rather of found an evident fault tho.. i thank it might come back
