So the time has come for the MR2 to go. I've bought an RX7 so I need something more economical as a daily driver. I'm after a Golf GT TDi so p/x is possible on the offchance anyone has one!
This car has been the best I've ever owned. It's been a faithful daily driver for nearly 5 years and I will miss it loads, I've done nearly 50k in it and it's never missed a beat. The only time it's ever failed on me was this winter, the cold weather killed the battery. As such it has a fresh Bosch battery.
I have not and will not advertise it anywhere other than here as I don't want the Neds and Kevs texting me asking for my "best price bruv innit" every 5 minutes
I will be totally honest here. I crashed it in April 2010. It suffered front end damage which was repaired by Peter at SBits. The chassis is straight, the alignment is fine and it does not pull under braking or acceleration. There is minor panel misalignment between the drivers side wing and front bumper.
Pete has written a statement confirming there was no structural/chassis damage which I am happy to share with someone when they view it, and I have pics of the damage and the repair process.
I took a sum from the insurance company in order to organise the repairs myself with Pete. This covered the bulk of the labour and parts costs. I paid out of my own pocket for it to be re-sprayed. As such it was not written off. I have not done an HPI check to see if anything is recorded against it, I do not believe there is but I am happy to be corrected
Ive covered around 25,000 miles in the car since the accident with no issue and the current mileage is 96k which may increase as Im still using it as my main car.
Shes a 1995 Revision 3 GT-S Tintop with no ABS or TCS. I dynod her at SRR in July 09 at an IMOC dyno day with just the ARC airbox, exhaust and decat and she made a very healthy [email protected].
With the additional mods below I should imagine she is comfortably over 300hp when the boost is turned up beyond 0.9bar. 1.1 bar is fun
The good bits
MOT May 13
Tax September 13
Geometry done November 12 by Tony at Wheels in Motion
Clutch done 2011 at Fusion Motorsport
Steering rack, balljoints, track rod ends replaced 2010 at 3S
Cambelt replaced in 2009, roughly 30,000 miles ago at Fusion Motorsport
ARC Airbox + K&N Filter
Naughty Naughty banned trader decat downpipe with flexi section (Original CAT included.)
Fujitsubo RM01A exhaust
Blitz SBC-IDIII Boost Controller
ST205 Chargecooler system with Toyota Pump and Fiat Radiator
Stock BOV recirculated into the ARC box.
Omori Boost Gauge in Dash.
Grooved discs and EBC Yellow Stuff pads, rear brake rebuild, gear linkage bearings(both the round ones and the square one) less than 5k ago at 3S
Rear arches rolled. 17x9 with 255/40? No problem
Rhons gear gaiter with dark green stitching
Rose jointed drop links front and rear
Gas ram on engine cover
Suspension in good condition.
Climate/AirCon gassed and fully functional.
Stef Derner Clamping Delimiter Speed sensitive power steering functions as intended unlike normal delimiters/converters
Fresh Bosch battery.
The bad bits
Some paint flake on the front bumper.splitter, stone chips, etc.
Steering wheel a bit worn.
Notchy 2nd/3rd gear, synchro on 4->3 change crunchy.
Engine mounts getting tired
Usual rattly windows
Chip in windscreen outside MOT fail zone smaller than 10mm
front brakes juddering - been quoted £80 to have them skimmed on the car
dipstick tube snapped - doesn't leak but needs replaceing.
Wheels
Enkei RS 16x7/8 with 205/50 and 225/45 Yokohama AD08 tyres. The tyres were new less than 5k at a cost of £480 and have loads of meat left in them. I cannot recommend these tyres enough, very confidence inspiring. The wheels were also refurbed before the tyres went on.
OR
HS Grass 15x6.5 with 195/50 T1R and 225/50 Yoko A022. Rears barely legal, lots left on the front.
The price is £1900 with the 16" Enkeis or £1500 with the HS Grass 15.
These prices are firm and I feel are fair against other examples for sale at the moment.
I am confident I could break the car for more than this but I dont want to as it is in my opinion fundamentally a good car with plenty of reliable fun mileage left in it if someone is willing to throw a good box and some engine mounts on it.
She is not a show car, she's a nearly 20 year old sports car that's been used daily and the condition reflects this.
Test drives are fine, so long as you have proof of at least third party DOC cover, and put the money in my hands for the duration of the test drive, you bend it you buy it!

Oh christ. I was expecting you to sticker this at 3+.
bu88er.
New plan: Sticker this at £3k. Wait until I've decided to sell mine. Sell it to me for 50p.
Profit?

Thanks Sheppy. Hopefully it won't put people off. The recent geometry at WIM and the statement from Pete should be enough to put anyones mind at rest

lol I wish, but with Rex requiring an oil tanker's worth to do 10 miles it's just not gonna happen

If you'd have come to me two months ago I'd have bitten your arm off. Unfortunately I've been laid off at work so unless someone wants to buy my NA for 1500... hahah.
