finally fitted my celica seats

Post by alan_uk »

after them being sat in the front roo, for almost a month ive finally got my finger out and fitted them :)

brackets took some modding but have got them in without having to cut up my rev 5 seats

the 2 front brackets on the celica seats are the exact width of the mr2 fixing points all that needs to be done is bend them over to the same angle as the front mr2 fixings

and the rears use a small bracket 3" long x1" wide drilled out fix to the bracket on the center tunnel and fix to the celica bracket

and the other side door side rear drill out the rivets holding the bracket to the runner turn round so that it fits the mr2 hole then bolt it up with a 10mm nut and bolt and thats it the boot petrol flap bracket fits as it should with the original fixings

and just to note the height and position is exactly the same as the mr2 seats just comfyer and better looking :)

and the slide as they should not touching either side :)

They look good, but how comfortable are they? I remember the cloth Gen 7 Celica seats were uncomfortable after more than 30 mins or so driving.

I was well up for doing this, oem+ being my theme! Glad to hear the seat height is the same. That was my major concern. I couldn't find any info on it either.

lol cheers bud :) im very pleased with how they look and got the pair from ebay for £84 delivered so bargain too

and with regards to comfyness i will do mate and if you need any help with how they go in just drop me a message :)

:thumleft:

admittedly i was worried about removing the 2 seats as they are so so comfy but there tucked away in the garage totally unmolested and may get them trimmed in black leather and keep them for the future :)

comfort report on the seats

after a good 6 hours driving the outcome is they are a lot comfier than the originals, also feel a lot more supportive in the corners and noticed i have a drivers seat height adjuster so can actually drop the seat down even further which makes it even comfier and the rear head support is way better than the mr2 seats being 6,1 my head was way above the 2 head rests and in the event of a rear end crash i would of probably beenbe-headed lol,

so overall im very pleased and for what this has cost to do i would reccomend to anyone :)

£84 for seats obv variable but these are very goot condition :)
£3.65 for a bag of 10 10mm nuts n bolts
3 hours labour

only tools required

drill with 10mm metal drill bit
pliers
phillips screwdriver
hacksaw blade
10mm socket and ratchet or 10mm spanner x 2

that is all :)

also worth mentioning mr2 seatblets clip straight in to celica connections :)

Glad to hear this - they look great so pleased they are comfier than my old Celica's Seats. Maybe the leather seats had more / better padding?

Very nice, hadn't thought about Celica seats as a replacement, did you just get a steal at 85 or is that a common price for them? Seems far cheaper than MR2 leather seats of that condition.

Those look spot on.

With little work and no welding! which is always a good thing.

Can you take a photo of the bolt points, where your seats are bolted to the floor?

Awesome, thanks.

No luck on the alternator though. Hope it isn't too pricey/doesn't dent the car beautification fund too much :D
