[Mk2] [Turbo] Fuel Gauge not working

Post by stuyw »

Hi,

My fuel gauge is currently reading rock bottom on the gauge, but there is enough fuel in it..

What sort of things should i be looking for to try and get this resolved, as i dont want to remove the tank if its something basic that can be fixed without this happening.

Cheers in advance :)

simplest and easiest fix would be the guage is faulty but being a Toyota you just now its going to be a tank out job :(

It could be the fuel level sender unit could either be faulty or the float could be stuck down, easy to get to its directly beneath the ashtray just remove the ashtray and surrounding trim and you'll get to the plugs for the fuel pump and the sender unit, the sender unit is round and is held into the tank with about 10 bolts, all accessible from in the car and probably the easiest place to start.
