[Mk2] [Turbo] Rear trailing arms bushes shot?

Post by nickg07 »

Hi, so i just went under the back of my car and fiddled around with some bits and i get an odd creakey npise when i really rock the rear wheel.

Should these be rotatable on their axis? I.e i can roll the forward (towards the front of the car and backwards a little) see pic ..

look at where it joins the wheel. i did one pic with the bar rolled up and one in the middle...it felt pretty easy to roll it forward and back..

edit i rotated the thing forward a little here,. where the box is on prev poic you can see that the RTA is moved upwards slightly

Bushes knacked or is it meant to rotate like this? Both ends of the rod wiggle up and down and side to side and might be a little mushy...

The ends of the rear track rods are not bushes, they're spherical bearings.

They should rotate about their axis, but there should be no play.

its normal to be able to rotate the arm so that the bolt moves up and down.

If the bush is gone then toyota dont sell them seperatly, you need to get a new hub although i did watch a video of some Yank guy replacing these with some other type bush bushing.

interesting :)

Are they as easy to replace as the usual ones? or do these need to be pressed out and not cremated out

i believe you can press them out on a vise.
I did it with one of them.

Anyway is there any aftermarket option for those parts. They are the only suspension parts on my car which arent new - and i dont like this situation

As i said above, i keep the spherical bearings in stock. ](*,)

They can be easily pressed in and out.
