THE M40 is now closed following an accident earlier this morning.
The road is closed north bound between junction 1A M25 and junction two Beaconsfield after an accident involving three vehicles at 11.21am.
Three people were taken to Wexham Park Hospital in Slough.
One person is being taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford by air ambulance.
Police said the M40 south bound would be temporarily closed to allow the helicopter to take off.
The vehicles involved were a yellow Ford, a grey Honda Anaconda and a green Mercedes van.
Cars are being diverted on the M25 clockwise to junction 17(Maple Cross), then A412 south to Denham and A40 west to rejoin the M40 at junction 2.
The Highways Agency has reported congestion on the A40 to Swakeleys Roundabout, Uxbridge and the M25 up to junction 16 following the accident.
They said they expect traffic to clear by 3.30pm.
