Fitting new wheel stud

Post by xtremepix »

Hey,

I snapped a wheel stud last week, and got my hands on a replacement. I tried to fit it yesturday by removing the brake caliper and sliding it behind the disk and into the hole it fits in, but there wasnt enough space for me to do this.

Could anyone explain how I get the stud into the hole it lives in?

Thanks!

It is just possible the way you did it?

No need to get everything off?
Just turn the hub into a position where one hole will be free.
Just tap the old one out, place new one it, and use an old bolt to pull it fully in.

That's how I replaced all my studs, I think :eye:

I'll give it another go then. It just seemed that the (excuse my non-technical terms!) metal cover-type piece behind the disk was in the way, so thought I may have to remove the entire hub assembly? I hope I can do it the easy way!!

Thanks for the quick reply =]

Turn the driveshaft flange so the hole where you want the stud to go is at approx. 3 o'clock. With disc off, should wiggle through without much difficulty.
