10th anniversary edition

Post by Grajey »

What differentiates a 10th anniversary model from the norm?

IIRC they have a number ID tag somewhere on the car? Anyone know where?

TIA

There seems to be two versions, one for the Japs and one for the UK.

Here is the Jap version:
Image

Both versions have the metal sill plates and darker 'smoked' alloys (same style though).

The UK version has a wooden steering wheel.
Yes, I think I remember seeing the ID tag (something like, #69 of 1000).

There's someone on here has the UK version but can't remember who...

The UK ones are numbered and i'm pretty sure they only went to a couple of hundred... I've got one of the Jap ones, you get the turbo billys, momo steering wheel and gear knob, Shiney sill plates, anthracite wheels and badges and the lucearne silver body colour of course...

Saying that It doesn't look like one now!!

Is silver the only colour?

I'm sure I read somewhere that you could also get blue.

Yes, the UK 10th anniversary model was available in only silver or blue (think the same shade of blue as Fizz's motor - Caribbean Blue?). Not sure about the Jap model apart from silver in the pic above.

There are 250 UK ones :). I have number 20 in blue. Shes for sale soon.
Differences for the UK are (off the top of my head) ....
All either Carribean blue or silver. 150 of one and 100 of the other (not sure which).
They are all t-bar/leather with no air con.
They all have the premium sound system.
They have the momo part wood steering wheel and etched steel sills.
The cars have 2 numbered badges, one on the steering wheel and one on the engine cover.

edit - Oh they had the darker alloys aswell.

Some pics of mine here

Yeah, thanks.

Should also have a numbered badge on the ashtray and a gearknob to match the steering wheel.

Nearly bought a Caribbean blue, 1996 on an N plate. Had full service history etc but just had a few nicks and scratches that would have needed spraying to bring back to mint. Oh, and the aerial didn't work properly.

Nice motors though!

The old site had the brochure for the UK Anniversary model in the files section. Someone must have it. I dont remember any mention of a numbered badge on the ashtray or a momo gearknob though. :?

I have a carribean blue 10th anniversary edition.
Mine is number 201 in blue and very rare as it's on a P plate not the usual N plate like most are, I guess the toyota dealer held it back till august of 96 until registering it new with dvla. lovely mint condition too, with low mileage, full toyota history. I've had it 2 years now, but I waited nearly 2 years for the perfect example to come up for sale, well worth the wait though love it to bits.

Yep, there are officially 250 uk ones, all individually numbered.
Silver or carribean blue 150 of one and 100 of the other, not sure which.

they definitely have:
Leather and wood Momo steering wheel
Numbered badge on engine cover
Numbered badge on steering wheel
Numbered badge on ashtray lid
Special graphite coloured alloy wheels
Etched stainless steel sill plates.
Black Toyota badges on frunk and boot lids

gearknob was just the standard leather one, but are usually swapped for a matching momo wood one to complete the overal look, although officially a leather one was standard fitment on these.
Yep, they are all t-bars with full leather and all have premium stereo equipment, none have a/c.

I also have the colour sales brochure/spec sheet too, if I get the scanner working I'll post it on here if anyone wants to see it.

I hope this helps anyone wanting to spot a true 10th anniversary edition, as some people do try to fake them as they do fetch a slightly higher price when they do come up for sale. Finding a real one is damm hard, trust me. When I was searching for one the first 3 that I viewed were not real ones, but they were advertised as though they were the real thing.

Yours is in superb condition and looks like new =D> .
My recently purchased 80k car is number 19 in blue (see pics in the other 10th Ann. thread, same forum) and although pretty smart has a couple of rust spots on the driver's door low down that will be remedied soon. Other than that it's virtually unmarked in and out. I'm guessing yours has travelled a little less far?
Still not sure about the darker alloys but at least I now realise they're supposed to be that shade and I can stop frantically trying to brighten them up . . . #-o

Thanks for posting the spec sheet for me 'choxaway'.

It's confusing why some of the cars have the numbered badge on the ashtray and some don't. My one has the badge, yet the spec sheet and some of the other 10th editions I have seen don't have one......hmmm.

Nice of Toyota to make a special edition, but hey Mr Toyo if you read this, next time you make an anniversary edition consider putting a V10 twin turbo in it, instead of just fancy visual detailing.

I haven't got the optional numbered keyfob, anyone else got one?
was a bit tight ar$ed of them to make it an optional extra, they could of thrown that in for free.

BTW if anybody has a petrol flap in carribean blue for sale, let me know. Some clumsy git creased mine with their door in the supermarket. hand jockey!!

Hi thanks for the comment, I do like a clean car :)
She had done 85k miles when the pics were taken, but was obviously well loved.
No sports cars for me for a while as I save for a house tho.

Thanks choxaway for posting those, I knew I was right :D

Well at least they did more for the 10th anniversary than they did for the "whole end of all MR2s EVA"
