[Mk2 NA] HELP!!!! HOW DO I FIT MY NEW STERIO!!!!

Hi there everyone!

I have just bought a lovely jap imported MR2 G-Limited mk2 and love it! Everything is great appart from the fact I have no sterio!!!! It came without one, so I want to fit my new sony head unit. I have fitted sterios to loads of cars but this takes the buiscuit! I have found what wires are the live, constant live and earth by using a multimeter, but trying to get any sound from the speakers is a nightmare! Does anyone know what the colours of the wires correspond to??? Also it had a plug on the end of them (presumably going to the old head unit) which didnt fit my sterio so I chopped it off! I need help, and my tunes!!!!

You should have kept the plug on the end and bought an iso adapter from halfrauds or somewhere similar, then you would have had no problem!
Sorry i cant help you on the speaker wire colours, but if you have a search im sure you will find out!

hi mav, the plug was removed on my car when i brought it, so i had same problem, found wiring to be a nightmare and original speakers to be crap anyway, when i removed panels to trace the wires, in the end i ran fresh new cables into the door cards and rear panels and fitted all new speakers bypassing the original amps, in my opinoin the extra work is well worth it as my speakers sound better than my mates original set up, even unamped, have since added amps, caps and 12's behind both seats and would highly recomend the extra graft if you want a rewarding sound, if you really want to keep it original, im an auto electrician by trade so mail me and ill try and get the relevant info to you on the wiring m8, would do it now but all my manuals and cd roms are at work and im on holiday, l8r, jim
