[Mk2] [Generic] Bodykit or No Bodykit?

That is the question!

I have recently acquired a mint turbo rev 2 in black. I've got rid of the nasty (but mint) black alloys it came with and put some 17" staggered Work Equips on i and will be adding rev 3 lights on this weekend. I'm loving the look of it, but I can't decide whether to add a kit or not.

After some thought. I defo don't want to add a massive front lip for it to catch every road hump in london, so will probably colour code the front lip (rev 3 style) rather than adding the bomex front lip (I bought the whole kit with the intention to fit).

I didn't buy the rear spoiler. Question is:

Would it look strange with the side skirts, rear spats and no front spoiler? Has someone done this before if you pictures please

Even though I bought the kit, I am quite happy not to fit it, and am leaning towards the standard look. I know bodykits and styling of a car in general are a very subjective things, I just want to get peoples opinions.

Tthe idea of modding a car is to do it how you want it to look and not what others think is nice/horride.

Ii have bomex skirst, bomes spats, boxex scoops, bomex bonnet and a Kei Office front bumper but thats the way i like it

Unless i find a complete do-luck kit. That to me is just mr2 body kit porn.

I guess that's why I said I know it's subjective. Perhaps i phrased it wrong but the main point of my question was how does an after market body kit (meaning skirts and rear spats) look with a standard front skirt. Has anyone done this?

i would colour code the car, makes a big difference...
(by that im talking all the side strips and lips)

Yeh I think that's what I'm going to do, and to be honest that's what I was leaning towards anyway. Been asking around for quotes in the last few days.

Just that I had the bodykit sitting in my shed and was intrigued as to how it would look without a front lip. Look out for a Bomex kit on the for sale section very soon!

Yeah some skirts work well with standard lip, namely Tom's

I've always been of the opinion though that if you do one, you have to do them all, i.e. lip or a/m front bumper/skirts/spats or a/m rear bumper

i fitted rs2000 escort side skirts with standard toyota bumpers was the first person do do this but a few have copied now

If its a clean car, just keep it standard.

Im not a fan of body kits in general, especially when the car is a good/clean un to start with....

Definitely made up my mind now, just going to respray the existing black matt lip and skirts to body colour. The lines of the mr2 are lovely and very few bodykits I think suit and accentuate those lines and the shape of the car. I think the Tom's side skirts and aeroware front lip are defo the best combo of skirts and front lip but I don't fancy scraping up that lovely lip during track days and the like

The first link is too a car in a local car sales been there over a year while they have shipped it out to garages to have a thermostat then a headgasket, then to find a water leak !

Getting the stance of the car right, rather than putting on bodykit parts makes more sense to me.

I toyed with a set of Greddy skirts which fitted almost perfectly, but to me they made the car look a little bottom heavy. Keeping the narrow 'waist' of the car keeps it almost feminine in shape. Which while others may disagree appeals more to my eye

I do have the front bumper to go on as well but that's still in the shed as well.. Although when it's on it won't be staying red and green even though i do kind of like it.

I love the original shape but prefer the no spoiler look. However I do think the rear spats let it down... they're higher than the sills when you look in profile and it needs something lower. For that reason I modified my existing spats but you could just add the PP set you have now... maybe have them blended?

Some really great advice their guys. My cars paintwork is really good and te bodywork is mint, I've just put on the equips and it looks great (I'll hopefully post a photo later) so I think the standard colour coding is the way to go for me. Though mind you those rs2000 skirts look really good too, almost look like a standard stock option..

The Bomex lip isn't much lower than the standard one ,heres mine with lowering springs fitted

How much is your mr2 lowered by? I'm guessing those wheels are 15?
