There's loads of cars that use 16 and 17 inch wheels, the ones from your link would fit, but it's not a staggered setup - the standard wheels on the MR2 are an inch wider in the back to give it more stability and grip.
Have a look at the For sale section, I think the rev5 wheels on there would suit you fine for a similar price, and it'd be a better setup!

hi, i have also found another set that uses staggered wheels, 16" on the front and 17" on the back, how many of you use this setup, i myself have always used the same size on the front and back, any advise much appreciated.

also do you notice that the wheels are different sizes when you look at them when theyre on the car?

double staggered isn't common but a few folks have done it. No reason for it not to work, if you get the correct widths / offsets then 16 front 17 rear will be no better / worse than 16 or 17 all round. Wider rears are really what you're aiming for as the car is designed for it (though staggered tyre sizes kinda achieve a similar effect it's not as 'clean' )

define safe? You can stagger the tyre size but you would be bestter off buying the correct sized / ratio wheels in the first instance but it is your car so it is your choice :thumright:

You want to stagger the wheel widths as it should be but then fit the same width tyres to all wheels?

Seems pretty stupid to me as you'll have the same tyre contact patch all round which entirely defeats the purpose of having staggered wheels in the first place!

I think he was asking if anyone has same width wheels. If so the answer is yes since I do. 15x7 all round but the relatively high profile (a 50% ratio on 15s) allows me to retain a 225/205 r/f stagger with tyres that still each sit well on the wheels. This ability is reduced with a larger wheel and smaller profile tyre.
I then added 15mm spacers to the rear both to replicate the factory stagger look and to increase the rear track (with an inch stagger between wheels with the same offset you ideally want a 12mm spacer to replicate the look).
Handles great.
