South West IMOC meet?

Post by Bender Unit »

Who is interested in a South West IMOC meet? I am willing to try and arrange somthing but would be interesated in suggestions as to where it can be held and if anyone wants to do anything in particular.

It would also be nice to gauge numbers, so if people would like to post if they woud be attending or not that would help be gauge whether its worth doing.

Cheers

Yeah James, I'm up for this :)

Don't mind a get together in general like we did a year or so ago (wow time flies  )

Or something else. I'm happy to have the usual meet though, chat and some lunch or something.

Cribbs is easy to find, as is Longwell Green (and we could Triple R it there  )

Well I was thinking around the Bristol area as in south west. But happy to consider other areas if it means a bigger meet. :)

Maybe on a Saturday and if nothing is on at Castle Coombe (NOT a track day) I was going to ask if we could park up in the paddock. Its usually empty on the weekends Nice venue. Bags of space. Quiet. We wont upset anyone with our presence. There is also a motorsport shop on site if anyone wants to do some shopping (they don’t like rude boys though so best not hastle them if you have no intention to buy). :)

The idea will be to meet up at Castle Coombe race track, we can park up, not worry about people bothering us and the other way around, have a chat, take some snaps and then convoy down to a pub for a beverage and a pie. There is lots of space so it would be nice if a good amount of members turn up. :)

I will say now though that if anyone turns up and starts driving like a knob around Castle Coombe (village), or at the Track itself then I will hunt you down and kill you in the most savage way possible and probably beat you to death with your own shoes.

I wont tolerate any wheel spinning, burn outs, pumping bass, yobbish behaviour, inconsiderate behaviour, fast driving (starting to sound like my dad) as its not the sort of image I want associated with the IMOC.

If people are interested then I will try and make some calls. All the guys that are interested spread the word to other members.

Cheers

Called CC and they were very receptive, but booked out. Could manage the 4th of Spetember which is a sunday. Waiting on a call back.

Might be worth considering another venue for a mini meet and get a big gathering for the 4th?

Cheers

Right then ……

Castle Coombe have confirmed they will be happy to have us. They have said that the best day to turn up is on the racing school days.

Basically this is when the track is open to the public. The café is open and Merlin Motorsport will be open. Plus there will be the racing school going on on the track itself, basically a few track cars going around under tuition (track Focus, Elise and Forumla Fords) so there will be something to watch even if its just novices plodding around.

The car park will be empty and we wont be bothered by security or told to move on. They have even offered to cone off an area for us - so they are veing very accomodating.

When we are done we can then move onto a pub.

For those who havent been to CC is a very nice place and a perfect venue for a meet. Hopefully if there is enough interest then this "could" be a regular South West meet venue. There seems to be a lot of members in the south west but no regular meets.

Just to spell it out to the silly few who enevr read things THIS IS NOT A TRACK DAY, so don’t be scared off from attending.

Dates available are 20th August OR 27th August. Both are Saturdays.

Please indicate a prefered date and I will get it set up.

Please can everyone spread the word it would be nice to have a good turn out especially as we have secured a decent and friendly venue.

Best behaviour will be expected though, don’t come if you feel you will act like a prat. Flyers will be given out indicating expected conduct, people that don’t adhere to these rules will be booted in te ar$e and asked to leave.

Hi James

I`d be up for either date although more likely the 27th. Car isn`t much to look at at the mo so it will be hidden at the back out of view.

Definitely interested, would go for either but you've gotta factor in the hell of bank holiday traffic.

Glad the 4th Sept is off as we've got Elvington that weekend! \:D/

Right I have made an executive descision …

It will be held on the 20th.

I know this may not suit all but the 27th is a bank holiday weekend. Which means traffic will be rubbish around Bristol and the M5 and M4 become huge car parks. If people are coming further a field then they don’t want to be sat in huge jams so the 20th makes more sense and means less people will be put off from coming. Plus bank Holiday weekends usually mean people have other plans and arrangments.

Spread the word people I want a good turn out and it makes sense to make the most of this great venue.

Cheers
