[Mk2] [NA] Alternator type / relocation?

Post by Mondo »

Is the MR2 alternator identical to a Celica one - I'm assuming it's all brackets that attach it to the base of the engine?

If they are identical, is it possible to fit one in the more usual position of next to the exhaust (same position as in a Celica, basically)? Or are there things that preclude it from being fitted there?

Mine has seized and I'm not looking forward to changing it at all :(

Not identical, MR2 one is bigger due to electric power steering.

Some MK1.5 guys fit the alternator in the Celica location, I don't know what's done about engine mounts though as the belt would have to avoid one.
