upgraded manifold question

Post by obster »

Hello

I have just fitted an aftermarket exhaust on my rev2 turbo. its one of those stainless steel ones with the improved gas flow pipes. however after i fitted it i noticed that the turbo does not sit in line with the large braket that bolts to the bottom of the turbo and the engine block.

I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem and if i am ok to just leave that braket off?

thanks

wasnt a cheap Ebay style one was it???

If so you might as well just put the stock one back on as thats good enough for something like 500+hp

Yer it was off ebay, and thats the first thing that came to mind when it didnt fit correctly

Iv just upgraded my turbo to ct20b and put a rev3 gasket on it, the only reason i got the manifold is because i thought it would help with exhasut gas flow, and weight.

Do you think the stock one is ok to leave on?

Definitely. As Steve says, the stock manifold is good for 500hp. No benefits to swapping it if below this sort of power.

the ebay one will probably reduce your power as some dont line up with the exhaust ports properly either and they wont have as much research etc put into them. plus they are known for cracking easy.

a good manifold will cost you £500 - £1000+ but you need to be putting some serious power down before you want one of them (Or if your using a turbo that doesnt use the stock manifold)
