[Mk2] [NA] Engine bay bling

Post by sangyboymr2 »

Hi all. Looking at tidying up my engine bay a lot. Gonna get a steam clean and some samco hoses. I want some nice alloy in there too like the radiator and oil caps, Maybe some carbon fire covers. I just want to know if theres any decent online stores for this sort of stuff. I checked ebay as standard and theres not a lot on there. Also tried POTN and no joy and google searches aren't turning up a lot.
Can anyone help me?? Really want to tidy up y tired looking car 'cos it still goes so well and deserves it!

Thanks in advance, and it's a K reg 2.0 N/A GT.

I have pulled a couple of NA's apart and you would be suprised with the difference you can make with 2 things: grease and de-greaser

de-greaser - visit halfords or your local motorstore
grease - only one brand will do, 'elbow'

as for "bling" try these if you have a bit of cash spare:
REV1 samco NA coolant kit: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SAMCO-SILICONE-CO ... 4155c1d761

for Rev3 version for others as its hard to find:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 3D1&_rdc=1

rev1/2 manifold : again search ebay, they are about £150ish (make sure you get a uk spec one though. someone is selling 5sfe ones over here [different pattern,US 2.2 thanks Pete])

jap-spec-performance induction kit:http://www.jap-spec-performance.co.uk/s ... ucts_id=59

shiny bits and stuff:http://www.btowstore.com/epages/BT2570. ... 2%20MK2%22

hopefully that should get you started. there are also lightweight chrome crank and alternator pulleys, you could spray your rocker cover and/or brace. the bay is your oyster. remember though. better to keep the car fully serviced and running its best before spending money on bits people wont see, unless you are stopped or broken down :thumleft:

Do you know what colour hose you plan to use for your engine bay?

Yeah I was probably just going to go with the blue as I think it stands out. Thanks for the links, I'm going to check them out. I looked at some auto glym engine de-greaser in Halfords. About £9 though. Gunk do an aerosol cheaper but I think I'd be inclined to go for the auto-glym.

Gunk is about the best you can get for degreasing. I have used it and got excellent results with both brush on and spray on stuff.

I used the brush on stuff for the bits i could get to easily then sprayed the more awkward parts. Leave it on for 20 mins, start your car and jet wash...... making sure you have wrapped the fuse box dizzy cap up in a plastic bag first.

Engine looked nice and clean till my driveshaft oil seals failed and now lower part of engine is covered in oil again. ](*,)
