Ok i found an old thread on which tyres where best for the mk1 mr2 with most people saying goodyear eagle f1 are the best tyre to go for. However i have searched the internet high and low and it seams as though goodyear no longer makes the tyre in that size hopefully someone will prove me wrong??? In fact pretty much all of the tryes in that tread seam to be discontinued in the 195/50/15R size. After quite a lot of research im pretty set on a set of uniroyal rainsport 2 tyres they are available in the correct size and seam to have got very good reviews: http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Uniro ... port-2.htm
An added bonus is they are very cheap have found a full set for £150 delivered!!
Has anyone had any experience of this tyre on a mk1 mr2??? Or does anyone know of any other good tyres that are currently available in 195/50/15R??
Looking for an all year round performer
Cheers Dan
F1s are a bit meh in all honesty. Not a bad tyre, but pretty old hat these days.
Yoko Advan Neovas (LTS) are the best thing since sliced bread in 195/50/15s. Around £100 per tyre though, but you get what you pay for.
S-Drives aren't bad, preferable over F1s and a similar price.
To be honest tyre choice is a very personal thing, can all depend on wheel size, suspension, your driving style, so many different things. Alot can also depend on if you going all round or want a different set up front and rear, I know LimeyMK1 ran a different combination that a bit less grip at the back and it suited his driving style well, but I found it a little uncomfortable lol
Just had a quick look then and couldnt find any sites selling the yoko NEOVA (LTS) finding any premium tyre in the 195/50/15R is not that easy. Managed to find the YOKOHAMA AD08 ADVAN NEOVA for £76 per corner: http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php? ... s662p59628
I have however just bought a set of the uniroyal rainsport 2 tyres again from cam skill: http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php? ... 0s99p60615
They certainly look the part and have good reviews and for the price would be silly to buy anything else. Will report on performance once they are bedded in and the snow has gone!!!
If anyone can find or knows of any sites where good tyres in the 195/50/15R sizes are sold would be great if it could get posted here for future reference. Where do you get the yoko LTS tyres from Lauren??

You can get them from www.buyatyre.com or any Lotus dealer. The tyres are a specific compound for the Elise, but they work very, very well on the MK1.
I have the Yoko C drives on and they seem fine. Only problem is they are 3 years old. Only about 5000 miles but think I should replace them in the spring due to time. Am I right?
Not using the car much in the deep cold as the mondeo has heated windscreen and a much better heater so wimping out a bit.
Ditto. I've got 195/45/15 Toyo T1-Rs up front and 195/50/15 Toyo Proxes 4s on the back, but I'm going to throw on some Aurora Radials, (seem to be made out of the same stuff that they make the tiles on the Space Shuttle from), on the back once the current snows melt for some potentially deadly drifto fun.
