MR2 Turbo great spec + job lot of parts

Post by Nails »

Well I bought this off keith ( -:[KM]:- on here ) with the idea that my house was nearly finished, I was going to build a garage, get another MR2 and forge the engine, big turbo screamer pipe etc, then I happened to see this in the for sale with all the boxes ticked and a hell of a lot cheaper than buying all the parts myself.

6 months on and the reality is, I drove the car back from keiths, around 160 mile with no problems, parked on my parents drive where its safe and then never gone back to it. The house still isn't finished, Im well over 160% of budget (and I had a big budget, its no simple paint and fittings job). And I still dont have time for the car. Its just sitting blocking my parents garage.

So its back up for sale, during its stay on my drive the MOT has ran out, the tax has ran out but other wise is exactly the same.

Good points about the car, it has a load of really good parts, many more than listed, all bushes done, bars uprated, drives like a new car imo.

Only bad points I can say is the front splitter, rear bumper and rear spoiler appear to have been painted by hand and is not the best finish if your picky (like me), rear bumper has 2 slight marks/small cracks. Speedo doesnt work properly (wires from sender appear to be corroded), reverse lights have been wired up as brakes lights, and thats about it.

The car also comes with a box of 850 injectors which if fitted and mapped will take it upto around 400bhp.

it also has the usual, clifford alarm, jdm folding mirrors, aircon, added bonus of cruise control too, guy showed me his old apexi filter which the car had practacly sucked inside out hence why the bigger filter on now. supposdly running around 350 at the moment but only been road mapped by ryan so no dyno proof.

So to sum it up, I dont have the money or time to do what I wanted to do (I was going to respray it and make into big power weekend toy) the car is worth so much more as parts etc and if you are wanting your own project this is so much cheaper hence why I bought it

Im looking to sell for what I paid for it £3250

So the 6 months MOT and Tax have run out, but you still want what you paid?

Have you started it up or drove it round the block every now and then over the last 6 months?

no it had a couple of days tax on it and 1 months mot on it when I bought it, so no 6 months tax or test on or it would still be T&T'd.

Its been started up approx 3 times since to let it run and its been round thw block once when I had to move it off the drive to get my kitchen out of the garage to fit it.

looking at the 8 pms ive got in my in box then it looks like there is a lot of interest in the car, i would be keeping it but due to the fact i know i wont have any time for it for at least another year then its pointless keeping it

£3250 with all those spares aswell thats cheap ya know. The amount of money I`ve spent on my car and the internals are still standard I`ll end up paying double. Seeing cars like this come up and it makes you think of massive savings that can be made when a lot of work has already been done and parts sourced and fitted. Someone is going to get a real bargain. Hope the sale goes through ok! :thumleft:

Ah righto, the ad didn't make clear it was such a short amount of Tax&MOT lost. In that case, not such an issue asking for the same money.

Oh don't get me wrong, 3250 is a good price for the spec and spares package, no wonder you're getting a lot of responses. Good luck with it.

Just thought I'd chime in - I'm 'deadly'  serious after speaking to Steve at length about the car over the weekend. Just waiting on the car going in for an MOT tomorrow, then we'll take it from there..

passed the mot with only advisieries for the rear tyres but have a pair of new ones wiith it. Wish I put it on ebay now lol with the amount of offers I've had. But am holding on to it for the first lad to offer the deposit. Will keep everyone involved informed. After driving it properly today for months I know this won't be my last mr2 turbo.nothing else compares imo for the money

Braved snow, ice and sub-zero temperatures (talking about laying it on thick! No pun intended!) to go down and view the car yesterday. Unfortunatly, there was no way the car was making it out of the driveway, let alone estate, despite Steves best efforts to 'untomb' it from the snow..! Did look over the car, and was happy everything was as Steve had described it. Left a substantial deposit, and took the majority of the spares back up the road with me..

Just need to arrange a suitable future date with Steve to go down (weather permitting) and collect the car amd finalise things..

:thumleft: should have seen how much we got on Sunday night. Compelety buried the car and tore all the gutters facias and wall boards off in my village. The street was unpassible even to 4wds!
