Metal dust in oilfilter= spun bearing? pic!

Post by Greddyfreddy »

This is a picture of my oil filter cut open to investigate engine knock.

Image

Is this how it looks when a bearing is spun or what?

The metaldust is silver colored not copper.

There is PLENTY more in the oil pan.

I have pics of the bearings. the pan, oilscreen and crank journal.

Seems highly likely to me - post up the pics of the bearings & cam journals etc though, easier to tell from those usually..

Something is definitely disintegrating in your engine though..

All the crank journals seems fine to me. This is how all of them looks.

Cant feel anything with my nail.

Bearing on rod nr1 has copper on it:

Bearing on rod nr4 has almost no copper at all:http://web.telia.com/~u92903913/bearingnr4.jpg

I have checked all the bearing except for the main bearings, will do that today. Didnt look that badly worn. I dont have a clearance plastigage.

This is how it looks in the oil baffle:

In the oilpan:

Oilscreen, you can se 1 metal flake in it, i have removed two flakes:

te pictures arent that good, hope you can tell me something.
