Anyone else got a scratched glove box? making the inside for my 2 look pap, what paint do i need to fill the chips in with? has anyone done this before?
cheers, Jon
Exactly the same problem here
I was thinking of getting a new/used one as I'd hate to paint it and find out that the colour didn't 'quite' match
Someone must know of a paint for a good match
I did this with mine! the paint peeled leaving the grey.
I bought some black Foilatec interior spray from Halfys, it costs about £20 but is awsome, just looks brand new and is a perfect colour match
sadga wrote:Dale - is that exactly what its called, Foilatec? Cant see it on the Halford Website and i could do with some for my glovebox!!
Cheers..
its Foliatec "carstyling Interior colour spray" and you want the "flat black" version not "gloss" I believe. The barcode is: 4002581200219
It cost around £20 as i remember, but has done a great job!. Just to remind you, make the surface clean first from grease, I reccomend Halfords surface cleaner... about £3
JohnnyC wrote:Did you have to sand away all the original paint off? Any need for primer too like what people use for their centre console bit?
no dont sand the paint, you will lose the texture! I never primed mine and 1 year on its still looking like new. as long as the surface is clean it doesnt matter.
Oh and this stuff stinks! so make sure you can leave the windows open long enough if your spraying in situ...
I eventually got round to getting this paint - superb colour match.
But, the paint is coming away again, in exactly the same place.
I didn't put any laquer, thinking about putting some, would this make it too shiney?

laquering will give a gloss finish mate
try stripping it back with some thinners but be carefull then use panel wipe before re applying it

Cheers, I re-did it 5 years ago
And it still looks good
Here:
Let me explain the pic first. You probably notice the glovebox doesn't look the same colour as the top of the dash - this isn't noticeable to the eye that I've noticed.
AND, the part to the left of the glovebox was NOT painted, that part is the original colour - so you can see how well the main part of the glovebox matches
Dale_V wrote:just to update, 5 years on... my glove box is still in great condition, and the paint match to the eye is spot on!
did you spray the inside and does it look as good as outside?
mine has all peeled where the previous owner(s) have kept the service book and it has rubbed against the back.
will be off to pick this up this weekend if i can find out the way to get my rev5 dash/gearbox/handbrake area colour back to factory a finish.

I didnt spray the inside as mine was fine.... but im sure it will work fine if you clean it out well.. the key to the paint holding is using a surface cleaner to get all the grease off first
