Extremely reluctant sale...Rev 3, 94 GT-S Turbo, modified, 350bhp

Post by Scott Barton »

After a few months of soul searching....i have finally brought myself to this junction in my life where i have to let my pride and joy go to a new home.
Its breaking my heart typing this. MR2's have been a part of my life for over a decade, this one in particular nearly 8 years. The passion has culminated in me becoming the chairman of this fantastic car club. One that i hold so very close to my heart.
The amount of pleasure this car has brought me is unmeasurable and she will never be replaced.

I am no rush to sell. The car WILL NOT be broken, so don't ask.
The asking price is £7750. No silly offers, i will wait for the right buyer.
She is booked in for a service this month and will come with 12 months MOT, 9 months TAX.

The car is untested on the strip in its current form. With the spec and build listed below, sub 12s are achievable. Especially with the NOS and uprated gearbox.

So here goes.....
A bit of history first.
The car was imported in 1999 by Miguel at Newera imports for Jason Croft of MTTE fame.
It arrived in England in semi stock form.

Image
Image

Some mods were installed on the car, and some body work including some rare 'Autopista' items.

After a while the car was sold onto another respected IMOC member, Jon Millar. More mods and subtle changes happened.

Image

And then finally, the car was sold to my good self in 2003.
She has been an ongoing project for me in this time, and i will try and be as accurate as i can in my following description.

1994 GT-S Turbo, T-Bar. 374bhp with NOS (350bhp without)

The car is drivable round town, and also loves a track. The handling is amazing. A few will vouch for the levels of grip this car has.
A few pics, including how she looks now.

The paint work is excellent for a car that is 16 years old, any touch ups have been expertly carried out by Chappel Coachworks, renowned for their excellent work.

Bad points.....you know i really and honestly cant think of any! She has has served me well, and i have spent thousands on her to get her where she is today.
Routine servicing has been carried out using only the best oils and fluids. As well as the extensive modified list above, Toyota parts have been used to replace worn items, including:
New alternator (fitted July 2010)
Coil
AC Compressor (2nd hand)

I have a huge folder of receipts, paperwork and manufactures literature. All items that have been fitted in the last 7-8 years come with all instructions and install/operating instructions.

If you have any questions, or would like more pics (i have hundreds) then please do not hesitate to ask.

I knew this was coming but it still shocks me to see this ad - I really never thought I'd see the day when you parted with this car :( I can totally understand where you're coming from and applaud your resolution in doing it

For any potential buyers: this is a rare chance to buy a true enthusiast's car that has been pampered more than any other MR2 I know. You want pedigree? This car has it in spades. It's absolutely true that no expense has been spared in Scott's tireless quest to build his perfect MR2.

It turns heads at any event, as any IMOC member will attest - small crowds appear whenever the engine lid is opened and it has a unique and powerful road presence, particularly when screaming past you on the autobahn like a NOS powered Exocet.

It will outperform most cars on the road and has that rare combination of being a viable street and track car. I've been a passenger in it with Scott around the track at Angelsey and try as he might, it would NOT come unstuck at speeds in corners where mine would have been spinning onto the grass (and that's after taking my poor driver skills into account!).

Mate, if I had the money I'd buy it off you myself.

Is that not a Bomex front bumper rather than a Border, as described in your ad?

Looks like a lovely example BTW!

All of this...
Gearbox & Transmission
Rev 3 gearbox rebuilt with taller final drive mod by MR2 specialist 'Century Motorsport (Fitted May 2010)
Fensport Helix 6 puck clutch (Fitted May 2010)
Fidanza lightened flywheel (Fitted May 2010)
TRD gearbox mounts (Fitted May 2010)

The old gearbox was sticking in 3rd gear, so i bought another box and had it completely rebuilt with the taller drive mod.
At the same time i had a brand new clutch fitted and a brand new Fidanza flywheel.....along with the gearbox mounts.

You wont find a more genuine seller on here than Scott people and this car is genuinely immaculate.

If I was in the market for a modded car I would be looking at this.

Thanks Matt, its appreciated.

I can now reveal that after extensive communications with a buyer, that a deposit has been paid today.
I really cant believe i am typing this. I thought i would be buried in that car.
A very dark day indeed.

Hopefully the new owner will be along to say hello. I am confident i have sold to a fellow enthusiast and am hopeful that the car will stay within the club for many years to come.

God i am going to miss her.

If it's any consulation Scott, I've been exactly where you are, selling something neither I nor any one else ever thought I would after many years and vast amounts of money.
I was gutted, I actually did cry a little bit.

But the saying goes - as one door closes, another opens....
