One of the MK1s I have stood up has twin weber 45 carbs on.
Sounds awesome but is a complete bu99er to set up, and at full tilt it's best achievement was 165 bhp (with more aggressive cams, exhaust, induction and a few other bits).

Better bet is to get an SC tbh, or one of your turbo lumps

Though a PITA to set up once sorted there is nothing to beat the sound of twin 40/45s. I had twin 45 dellortos on an old vauxhall i had and the first few times i got it started the neighbours came out to see what was going on!

165bhp sounds a little down considering the mods,i would have expected 175ish with that list....but as you say a pain to set up,maybe with a bit of RR time? Out of curiosity what have you both used for ignition control when 40/45's fitted?

TBH I bought it like it and have spent no time on it whatsoever, too busy with the TC. I suspect I'll end up breaking the car too, as the floor is rotting and its going to cost far too much to get through another MOT.

My twin 45s were on a 2.3 Firenza and i wasn't too techy with electronics back in those days (circa 1990) so it was just on lumenition as the Firenza had ark technology with points and weights!
