Middle pipe outer diameter?

Post by Neil Turbo »

Hi guys. My mk1B has blown a nice hole in the exhaust on the weld just after the first silencer on the middle pipe. Being a bit skint at the moment, I'm thinking of simply hacksawing off the box, and fitting a straight length of pipe - I can't think this will add to the noise or be of any detriment as I'm sure I remember seeing cheap aftermarket exhausts with just the backbox in place.

Anyone actually done this? If so, or if anyone has quick access to their exhaust, what's the outer diameter on the pipe? I'd measure myself but I can't get the car on the ramps at work until Wednesday at the soonest, and I can't get it up in the air any other way at the moment!

Cheers, Neil

P.S. Failing that, if anyone's got a cheap Stainless system for sale, give me a shout lol
