No Boost Just Slight Vacume

Post by Wobbs »

Hi Guy's
Has anybody heard of an exhaust turbine snapping off completely?
I lost boost pressure the other day, had nothing at all just showing slight vacume when driving. Done usual checks all ok, so I thought that I'd drop the cat and housing off thinking that the waste gate had stuck open. To my surprise the exhaust turbine had gone!
So I’m looking for a turbo, stage 1 or 2. If any one can help or has a turbo of this type it would make me very happy.

Cheers

You mean the turbine wheel snapped off (or likely disintegrated) and was passed through the exhaust? !!!!!

I can honsestly say i have not heard of that before (or imagine how it would happen).

Its not uncommon - specially on the CT26 - for the rotor blade to dissappear down the exhaust. Its a ceremic product and therefore very fragile. If you have recently upped your boost then this would have caused it to go.
