[Mk2] [Turbo] Metal Head Gasket on a rev2 Turbo?

Post by Poker Face »

I want to fit a MHG on my rev2 turbo as I am hoping to be running it at 300+bhp.

The supplier has said that they look different. I know that doesn't mean you can't fit it. So has anyone else fitted a MHG to a rev2 or am I mistaken and you can't do it?

Very common mod mate. I had one fitted to mine in December by 3S Services.

i presume you mean the stock rev3 one as i think thats different to the rev2 one in terms of looks.

i fitted a cometic one to mine, and whilst i never actually overlaid the new on the old, it fitted the waterways etc perfectly.

Stock Rev 3 headgasket will fit Rev 2, as said before overlay on the head looks a little different but functionally its fine.

You can get them on ebay for £30, this is a reputable seller I have had gaskets from them before. :thumleft:

I don't know for sure but I would look on ebay at the head gaskets on there as the info to what they fit is bang on(plus they are cheaper than many motor factors).

I would of thought a standard n/a head gasket would be more than sufficient for your needs. Its not like you will be running at 300bhp so you shouldn't blow the head gasket.

Also order yourself some new head bolts as they are stretch bolts and are 1 use only.
