Jobs for the weekend...

Post by samu23 »

I have a few plans for the 2 at the weekend, first things first is an oil change, now this is the first time im going to try this myself, ive read through a few of the guides, but i just wonderd if there are any tips?

Quick query regarding the oil the previous owner tells me it has 10w40 fully synthetic in it. But in halfords i couldnt find this anywhere, so i bought the castrol 5w30 fully synthetic. Should this be ok?

I also want to change the filter, but dont think ill get one delivered in time off the internet. Where would you reccomend to buy on from locally?

And last but not least i have a new intercooler with gtschris shroud and fan, now ive read up alot on this. Some people say its easy and some people say its tricky. Any tips to make this job any easier, how long should it realistically take for a first timer?

Many thanks

Try the blueprint website for local suppliers/stockists of blueprint goods..
I use Jaystock myself, there could be a branch near you....

Make sure you use a funnel or similar to pour the oil in....don't spill any onto the alternator :!:

You may as well buy from toyota for the oil filter, sump washers and sump plug. Not that much more than ordering from the net.

Plus they will have them in stock or available next day (and their parts departments are usually open Saturdays).

And sump plug washer! I find they are a bit hit and miss with this, they are supposed to supply them with the oil filter but some don't seem to.
