[Mk2] [Generic] MR2 With Supra Wheels

Post by jberry3 »

Just see this pic while searching this site and think the supra wheels look mint on mk2!

Image

Does anyone else have pics of them on mk2's?

Also how practical are they? Rubbing, fitting etc?

Thanks

My Supra Wheels

Post by sw20 »

Here's a couple of pictures test fitting my 16" Supra wheels on the rear with 15mm spacers and a 245/45/16 Tyre on which cleared with loads of room.

Just seen this,

For anyone else who finds this:

The car in the first pic is mine, those wheels are the 17" Supra wheels, they were never fitted to the car, we took them off a mates supra and put them on mine just to see how they would look. They were very tight up against the suspension and so the car was undrivable like it, I would say big spacers would be needed and arches rolled as a minimum at a guess.

Stock Supra wheel sizes

16x8 +50
16x9 +50

17x8 +50
17x9.5 +50

Using the wheel calculator below, it looks like you'd need at least a 10mm spacer on the front so the wheels would clear the suspension

http://mr2.gordaen.com/wt_calc.php

MR2 (mkii) Flushness:
Your proposed front wheel will be 14.65 mm tucked in from flush (flush offset: 35.35).
Your proposed front is 9.35 mm into the suspension!
Your proposed rear wheel will be 8.3 mm tucked in from flush (flush offset: 41.7).

I tried a 10mm when I had them, not enough to clear the coilovers, and would hit the arch liner.

I have fitted the 17's on the rear but need lower profile tyres and spacers fitting to the front to clear the suspension.

I have 10mm hubcentric spacers I'll try but got a feeling i may need more, also going with slightly stretched tyres front and back to sit snug in the arches.

Also fitted a crash bolt to the rear strut on one side to give me a mm of movement, it's that tight!
