Plastic end clip of the engine cover stay....

Post by DTMr2 »

Hello guys,
I've got a question about the plastic end clip of the engine cover stay....
Before I go to the Toyota main dealer to ask and for them to look down at me,I'd like to know wether I'll be able to buy just the plastic bit from them.I'd rather not have to buy the whole stay, rod and all.
I'm only after the plastic clip that actually clips into the inside lid of the engine cover.Mine is damaged and lost a tab bit.
I went to a local scrapyard and found one but that was even more damaged than my own one.
Many thanks guys.

Hi,
I can't make out from your description what part it is your looking for :-k
Is it part of the engine cover stay itself ?
or is it the small clip attached to the middle of engine cover, that holds the stay in place when not in use ? (lid closed)

I have just bought a gas strut & my stay is no longer needed so if it's a part of the stay you need, you can have mine
(no charge)
If it's the other part 'clip' that holds in place, I can't help as my clip has snapped. That's why i bought a gas strut.

If you're refering to the plastic clip that holds the engine cover strut to the engine cover when the strut is not in use, the part number you need is 53455-17040. They're about £1.50 from Toyota so not too bad ;)

^^ Yep as above, they are available from Toyota cheaply, I had to replace mine the first month I had my 2.

Hey Reddev, where did you buy the gas strut? Sbits?
Seems a very good idea :-k
It's the clip that's supposed to stay clipped in the hole,on the right/offside.

I bought it from a fellow member m8
I have a full stay/rod/pole  whatever it's called if you want it (with the clips on it, each end)

On this diagram, do you mean the part numbered 64407A?

If so, the full part number is 64407-17030.

I have the full stay sitting doing nothing, so if you want just the small part/clip on the end of it you can have it (no charge)
as i say the stay is not being used anymore.
