[Mk2] [NA] Engine Swap............

Post by korean »

Who has done what? or seen what?

Just wondering what engines other people have put in to their MkII's to undate the motors?

I've seen that the V6 Camry engine seems popular,
A Turbo upgrade from an import.

Anything else?

Was wondering as last night whilst merrily whizzing down the motorway, that a Golf Diesel in front of me, booted it and shot off. to my embaressment, he definitely gapped me  And is probably getting twice the mpg as well. ](*,)

wanted to go home and get the Blade out. :thumleft:

Money no object I'd be fitting a 2gr, the 3.5ltr V6 toyota from the lotus evora which several owners have done recently. 350hp n/a with loads of torque. Mind you I don't know what it's made from or what its weight is... if it ruined weight distribution I'd stick with a red top.

Sure you're not thinking of Paul Woods who has already put an Audi V8 in a Mk1?

Money no object I'd supercharge or go for a built turbo on my 3SGE. But running an estimated 220 on the dyno for mine which I'm perfectly happy with.

I think nod was looking at an oil burner transplant in his -there'll be something going on there but WTF.

Thing for me is there's lots of motors with great engines in them but not the same as an MR2 set-up so difficult to compare for me.

...There's someone in the states put a K series engine in his MK3 -just wish he'd heard of the red top first #-o . And isn't there someone on here popped up with a ford engined MK2 -sorry, I just didn't like that at all but it did look a good job.

Don't forget the ferrari kitted MK2 with a Honda engine.

As far as mods go, everyone would tell you to sell the NA and buy a straight turbo insted of swapping for a turbo lump.

V6, 3vz-fe (180hp), 1mz-fe(190hp) & the new 2gr-fe (280hp as NA)

Any one of the earlier 2 should see you make turbo's feel sorry. The 2gr-fe is a whole new beast. Think gouky had over 300hp in his with custom headers, check twobrutal for the mental swaps.

I went from NA to V6 and love it! Oh and 144mph limited to the engine RPM :thumleft:

Next time, drop a cog, watch as Mr Diesel has to change gears twice as you climb into 5.5krpm territory and overtake him...torque is nice, but you've got the same if not more, you just have to work the stick harder!

Not really bothered about the speed thing, without causing an argument, cars are slow, end of, I have a 59 plate Blade for speed kicks and a ZX10R for trackday action, Its just that sometimes, my lovely MR feels lathargic. If i do whiz up and down the box like a magicians hands it does move. Just that sometimes......................

I wonder??? mmmmmmmm V6 maybe.??

Can the kit be bought?

£350 - £600 for a camry

-£100 for a mount

£60 gaskets

Rest is your time.

I did mine for £600 but the quality of conversion is nothing compaired to what woodsport offer.

Doubt I'll ever do anything about it, but cheers for the info anyway. :thumleft:

Theres a 3VZFE with all running gear mK2 gearbox, uprated clutch, fidenza flywheel uprated suspension, all poly bushed black diamond disks. Currently at Woodsport ready to be delivered. £1000 on a pallet

Not mine, but a bargin for sure as you havent got to strip down and rebuild the engine or sourcing all the parts.
We ALL make mistakes !!! :)
